I was just about to post similar question... getting ready to get wet tomorrow :D

Hopefully someone posts a report, I'm stuck at work on a boat and can't dive. I need to dive vicariously through y'all.

My good buddies Earl, Brian, Matt and I went diving at Ft Wetherill today. 45 minutes with a water temp of about 39 degrees. My wife napped on the shore in the 70 degree air and actually managed a little hint of a sunburn. Afterward we went for lunch.

The vis was perhaps 8 ft with a few murkier patches. No fish were around.

I'm definitley going tomorrow... we'll try a place in Salem where I froze up my reg before getting wet, just to break the curse :D
Can't wait to be tomorrow already !!!!! :cool2:

I went to Nubble for high tide - ish. In about 1:45 [high 3 +\-]. Did the S cove exploration that I wanted to do with another diver that hadn't done Nubble ever [can you imagine?]Viz was maybe 8 -10 max. Fairly calm seas. A little rough at times on the parking lot ledges. Very little surge. Water temp in the shallows 39 by his computer. Max depth 21' The viz was so poor I just wanted to give him a feel for the terrain over there. In for 45 min - He was diving a small tank and I was diving a 100 that was 2/3 full. I went for a 2nd dive by myself at Peirce Island Dog Park [Luis' Ledge - you like that Luis?] I got in the water about slack time. Was in for 45 min - just ran up and down the area off the beach trying to use up the air in a 2nd 100 that was 2/3 full. Outgoing river current was rough - many full headwaters pushing down to the ocean after the snowmelts the past couple weeks. Weird place to dive. In one spot the river current is strong and outgoing and 20' away and 10' deeper the tide is strong and incoming - even at slack. Viz was at the tips of my fins. I could barely see them. It was a different viz character. There were tiny particles floating in it. I wonder if the algae bloom is starting? I don't think it was runoff or bottom sediment [esp. at Nubble] Took a drive over to the Great Island Commons and Fort Stark after. The gate was open at the Fort [Yea and thank you New Castle PD]. That's my report!

6 Maine-iac divers did 2 Lights in Cape Elizabeth Maine today, entering near 1 PM.

1st day of spring conditions were perfect (seas, skies, air temp, tide) but visibility was mediocre, maybe a tad over 10 feet. 3 man reams stayed together OK so it wasn't all that bad. Pretty much what I expected given last weeks storm and high seas that persisted into Thursday. The group scavenged 6 free range golf balls. It was good to get out and log a March dive.

Parking was easy to come by too. :)

Pete

"Free-range golf balls", huh? They're always better than the caged ones.

Thanks for the report. My guess is that viz will be too crappy to bother going tomorrow.
