A ScubaBoard Staff Message...

Yes, we are under attack. Yes, we are doing what we can to combat it. Every spam post gathers about 50 reports. I just spam-hammered about 100 users, but there are hundreds of reports now that must be dealt with. Please stop reporting.

We know. We appreciate it, but we know.

Thank you.

It took me 20 minutes to delete the spam and clean the approval queue this morning.

Appreciate what you do, but that’s contrary to what we’ve always been told. Are we to stop reporting SPAM totally going forward, or just during this barrage? We are all simply trying to be helpful and are following prior guidance.

What spam?

EDIT: Never mind. Reading about it in another thread now.

Wondering if this is specific to XenForo boards (Bladeforums same backend software) is getting hit with the same crap? Or if its an across the web thing. I do IT so this knida stuff perks my ears up.

This conflicts with what Pete posted at 8:28 Eastern this morning

Yes, I agree, this goes against prior guidance. Just while this attack is happening. We appreciate that you are being helpful.

Thank you to all the staff dealing with this. Please don't take this like I don't appreciate your efforts, but my unasked-for suggestion would be to add a regex phrase to get the codes. It doesn't seem that complex of spam to detect and hold for review or ban outright?
