Check out the new web page!

I wanted to get in some December dives so I took some time off and went to Vortex. I stopped at the service station at the intersection of US 82 and US 231 and experienced the best hamburger that I believe I ever tasted. Then continued south and didn’t stop again until Sally’s. After the hamburger I figured that I needed to be good so did the soup and salad bar. I always stop by the liquor store and get my favorite rum and a lottery ticket.

The room at Vortex was cold. Wrapped up on the couch and watched Inglorious Bastards while enjoying a bottle of nice wine and finally to sleep. Woke up early this morning and did three dives throughout the day. The spring is absolutely fantastic when you’re practically the only diver in the water.

I found several nice pieces of pottery and some bone. I talked with Eddy for a long while and watched Shane work on the new web page. If you haven’t seen the new page you ought to check it out. Andrea came over and joined the laid back crowd. I couldn’t find anything in the dive shop that I couldn’t do without until next time. I hate it when that happens.

The day was warm out of the wind but cool in general. The water actually felt warm. The current from the cave is kind of kicking now. Water in the bowl was about 66 and water coming from the hole a good two degrees warmer. It felt almost as good as peeing your pants when you came over the ridge and entered the cavern. Some open water students marveled at my dry suit as they shivered in the wind.

I stopped at Elba on the way home for dinner and just cruised with the tunes all the way home. All-in-all I had a totally relaxing two days. The only thing that could have made it better would have been more money, more vacation time, and a trip to the Caribbean. Patience dear lad - patience!

Tom, as I iron my work uniform your post is killing me. Sucks to be a prisoner of work.

The family and i also went this month to get some dives in. But we roughed it and pitched a tent on 22nd -23rd. Forgot how nice it was to dive there when nobody is kicking up the bottom. had three dives the first day and one long 65 minute dive the second. After that long dive I started seriously thinking about a drysuit as i was shivering uncontrollably. I can tell the fish dont get fed as good this time of year as a swarm of brim followed us nearly everywhere.

It was fun to watch a pair of new divers on there first dive without an instructor on the final day of checkout dives.

While there made our reservation for Springfest. I think i may call them up and get make the reservation start thursday (a day early) and enjoy the spring before the masses arrive. With winter in full swing I guess i can wait until i go in january.

One time last year one of our group brought one of those patio heaters. It was a most popular item. I was thinking that one of those kerosene space heaters behind a windbreak would be a great idea.
