And no, you can't have her number.

Hmmm.... PTN as an in-law..... I think I'll stick with this girl. :D

Seriously though, congrats on your daughter getting certified! It is kind of like making a dive buddy from scratch! :D

Please excuse a fathers bragging. And a thread hijack.

Here we are getting her into her gear.

Here I'm walking her down to the edge.

Look at the grin! The bug was just legal. You'd think she caught Lobstasaurus!

A VERY happy day for me.

Not for nuttin' but I'll be a great F-I-L. "Hi Bethy, it's Dad. Lemme talk to (insert name here)... Hey (insert name here), wanna go diving?"

Hit the submit button twice. My bad.

RIOceanographer:
Matt, Earl and I dove the Troydon today. It was a sunken clam dredging boat with a max depth of 129ft at the sand. THe deck is mostly in the 120ish range. although points of the wreck rise significantly higher. It is upright and intact on the bottom with a bit of a list. We tried it a couple of weeks ago but missed the hook and dove nothing but sand. This time we got a bullseye on the first drop.

It was a fantastic dive. Great vis and plenty of ambient light even at 130 ft. The vis up near the surface was probably in the 40-50ft range. Down on the wreck at 130ft it was probably more like 20ish. I shot some video and will put it up once I get it edited together. In the mean time to give you an idea, this is a picture looking up at the bottom of the boat from 25ft down on the anchor line..... yep, that's Rhode Island water and yes it really was that blue at the surface and not just because of the camera's white balance setting.

September diving in NE . . . gotta love it. Glad to hear that you made it to the Troydon on this try. A nice dive makes it worth the longish boat ride. We had similar conditions last week on the Metis.

I am glad you nailed this time. I fogot to let you borrow that grappling hook but it sounds like you didn't need it. We headed ove rot Cuttyhunk yesterday to check something out. Unfortunately there was a fleet of fishing boats drifting and trolling right over the area we wanted to be so we did somthing off westport.

And John,

Just an FYI: Marcie and Gary got to dive the Herman Winter while on the Vinyard a few weeks ago. Your numbers were spot on. Thanks!

Be Safe,
Dennis

Okay, I have the second video from that day cut together. I didn't mention this in my first post but we did a second dive after the Troydon on an unidentified (but marked on the chart) wooden wreck south of Point Judith in about 70 ft of water.

Sean222 ought to recognize this one. :D

Here is the video from that dive:

I can see it now, "It's dad. So does your boyfriend dive? No? Hmm.... not sure I like this guy." :D

The 911 schooner, how could I not recognize it. You and I went there in June.
We call it the 911 because we first dove it on 9/11/03. I have since found that there are a few others that have been on it years ago.

How was the Metis? I have not been on her since 2004.

Yup it is a great spot. Shallow and contiguous. We took my son there a few weeks ago.

Good dive. We hit it at slack. Lots of "stuff" to check out. As you know she is quite broken up so running a line is a good idea. Capt. Gordon of Canned Air got to the site just before us and had us tie off to his vessel -Thanks Capt.
We had vis of about 15-20' with the strobe visible to about 30, of course one does not depend on the strobe to get back to the line, hence the use of the line if you want to explore away from the main wreckage. Max depth 130fsw.
