I have one. I just don't want to take any chances. It has left me stranded before so I feel I must have a back up plan.

Ken, a couple things that may help... invest (if you don't already have one) in a dual battery switch and a second (gel cell) battery... When you are done for the day be sure to move the switch to the off position. I usually run out on one battery and back on the other, if things get real bad I can run both batteries at the same time. No more battery headaches for me.

something like this.... Marine Battery 4 Way Switch - Blue Seas Systems 9001e

I would agree with you 100%, I don't think I've ever come off the throttle that fast before. Certainly got my blood flowing :D

I was up and aiming for the deck! It will teach you to give away my job - won't it Mr. Davo?:mooner:

By the way, do you see any octopuses (octopi?) on these gulf dives? The reason I ask is that there was a baby one washed up on Madeira Beach one day when I was walking there. (it was still alive so I put it back in the water).

We see them often. They are one of my favorite critters.

How did I miss this thread? And no lie, those nudi's were getting jiggy everywhere! Here are a few pics. They aren't the best but I couldn't decide if I was spearfishing or taking pics:

This is a terrible shot but it shows that the nudi's were everywhere:
