Haven't seen anyone post on the RI dive conditions in a while so here it is. My buddy Matt and I did a drift dive around Fort Point in Jamestown and exited at Bull Point.
We had a max depth of 78 ft and it was very dark below about 50 ft. It was very rough yesterday so things were still stirred up. Vis was about 10 ft max, but most of the time it was more like 5 ft. RI has been getting hammered with rough seas almost every other day for the last couple of months so the vis really hasn't had much chance to clear out this winter.
The water temps are running much warmer than they were this time last winter. My computer read 41 degrees F, but on a dive I did at the same site this time last winter it was 35 degrees F. That extra 6 degrees definitely makes winter diving a bit less painful.
I also attached a couple of shots of the anemones on the wall I took today. One shot has a bit too much backscatter but I threw it in just to give you an idea how thick the anemones are at this site....
