Disney’s Dive Quest is not just a dive it’s an experience that one doesn’t forget soon. We arrived about fifteen minutes early and met others from throughout the world waiting to share our adventure. After collecting tickets and c-cards our hostess, Kylee, escorted us back stage and we did the grand tour. First stop was the kitchen where we learned that the inhabitants of the giant tank get first dibs on seafood deliveries to the Coral Reef Restaurant. We also got a look at the detailed menus of each creature and found that one large grouper likes two pounds of snapper without heads or tails each day. We learned that each and every one of the inhabitants are really just pampered babies.

We signed liability releases while watching a video and learned all about the rules and regulations. Shorty wetsuits and boots already sized for a perfect fit awaited us in the locker room. Black walls on any backstage corridor signals that you are about to interface with the public. You become, in effect, Disney staff, actors in the public’s eye. We walked among the guests with our dive suits on and just as suddenly disappeared in an air shaft and up the spiral staircase to the water’s surface. A tank larger than Vortex Spring with crystal clear water and animals that are accustomed to divers makes for a perfect dive.

We donned Scubapro vests and Atomic regulators. The only thing that we didn’t like, as far as the equipment, were limber split fins. After Blades it seemed that we just swung our feet and went not very far compared with the effort expended. We looked into the restaurant and several kids offered us their dessert. One dad offered us a beer. They squealed when we did flips with happy faces abounding.

The best part was tank center. Swimming with leatherback turtles at least four feet across. Once a sand tiger shark was less than six inches from our faces and sent thrills amongst us. Through the fence of bubbles we could see bottle nose dolphins playing.

The signal to surface came far too soon and it saddened us end our dive. The hot shower felt good, water in the tank is 78 degrees. Our maximum depth topped out at 25 feet and the dive time 40 minutes. We enjoyed hot chocolate and watched ourselves on the silver screen.

Dive quest is an experience that you don’t want to miss. All you need is a c-card and swimsuit. They furnish all the rest. In the past we dined at the Coral Reef Restaurant after diving but this year there was no room for us. You enter backstage right at customer relations so be sure to make reservations around eight so you can enjoy dinner while watching the creatures you just mingled with.

Disney’s Dive Quest – We’ll go again!!!

No they don't allow you to bring your own camera I'm afraid.

We take a video of you while you dive, and make that available afterwords.

The only think we will let you bring in is a prescription mask, and or a wrist mounted watch / dive computer.

Disney doesn't allow photography backstage nor do they allow you to take pictures in the tank. They do, however, sell a very well done video of your experience for $35. The price seems high but the total experience lasts about three hours and you get to see a lot of behind the scenes disney. It's totally worth it to have the experience and to say you've done it. This was my third time and my friend's second time.

This must be a change.

I did this dive a year or so back and brought my own mask, I searched for a long time before I found a mask that fit my face properly and made a leak proof seal.

The tank is 25 feet to the bottom. It is a forty minute dive, if you have a low sac it lasts 40 minutes, if you breath like a 400lb smoker then we will change your tank out as many times as you need for 40 minutes.

Nope no change, like I said you can bring a mask and watch in... thats it.

That's not what you said, but ok, I realize you made a mistake, that a mask is permitted regardless of whether or not it's Rx.
