Luck must be on our side because diving conditions at the BW were just stunning. The water was just calm and waves were almost non-existent. Visibility was just awesome in comparison to previous weeks with the red tide that has been hitting the shores.

Just call me and my dive partner the lucky ones. There were a lot of jelly fish in the area and I took quite a few pics, I also got some star pics and did a lot of video taping.

As I was filiming a set of sea lions one broke off from the group and rushed at me and then released his bark right on camera; even though I was startled I continued filming and have it to share with everyone.

As soon as I learn to condese my video for youtube I will even post the pack of leopard sharks I filmed at Lover's point.

Anyone recommend a good video editing program to condense my video?

Sarita,

I posted the pics, you should've dove, actually it was your post that drove me to want to dive on Sunday...

As soon as I get the movie editing program you can bet I will post my videos. I've gotten very lucky for a beginner...

Great photos MG! Thanks for sharing. I am glad that I was able to drive to diving! :) Amazing what photos and such can do to a person! Are you going to come on the 19th of January and do Point Lobos with us?

Isn't that for intermediate divers and above? My dive partner and I are still beginners and we would not want to slow anyone down.

If it's open to beginners you can count on us attempting to dive that day.

Thanks,

MG

That I don't know. I dove it with 35 dives under my belt. What was difficult for me was the surface swim, nothing else really. I know that Monastery is an advanced site (generally) but that's because of the possibility of currents, shore entry, etc. Perhaps someone else could answer that question .....

See: http://www.shorediving.com/Earth/USA_West/CalN/Whalers_Cove/index.htm

IMHO, Lobos is generally pretty tame, but the entry/exit Monastery should be respected.

I'd say that both are probably best done for the first time with a buddy with experience at the site (Monastery so you can learn how to read the beach and time your entries, or know when to go home, and Pt. Lobos because you'll have a much better chance of seeing the good stuff).

I would agree with RHLee. What we did the last time that we did Pt. Lobos was we all kicked out together, regrouped and then began the dive together, but in buddy groups. Doc Wong was gracious and led us to a dive site and and then we all made our way back with our buddies @ our own pace. If you are interested, you are more than welcome to join us. :)

Uhh, some of us didn't kick out together. Some of us had other means of propulsion. :eyebrow::eyebrow:
