Sorry, didn't mean to sound hateful. Being form Belize and having been involved in the local dive industry up to a year ago (though I still dive occasionally) I can understand when guests have had negative experiences and am all too aware of AD's safety & professionalism (or lack of) record. I just thought they still owed Peter money for that complex gas blending system he sold them that's why he was always soliciting business for them because the majority of the operators in San Pedro don't have a very positive outlook on them. But I am only human and have been wrong many times before.

We used Amigos Del Mar a few years back and had a good time. They had a pretty large centrally located operation, and were very easy and accommodating.

But Steve, isn't it so that dive centers are only included in your reviews if they pay to be there? Trip Advisor is an awful website, but at least it doesn't charge.

No Peter, You can review anyone who is listed, we only charge if the dive center want additional information.
We try to list everyone, if you see we have missed someone PLEASE let us know.
We car currently working on Germany. (little known fact, what country has the most dive centers. answer: Germany)

cyberdyver have you ever seen a friendly relationship between a debtor and creditor. Do people you owe, so friendly with you, those that make any logic... the only reason the dive operators on Ambergris Caye dont have a good outlook on Aqua Dives is due to the fact that they cannot handle the competition...

Peter, what's "awful" about Trip Advisor?

TripAdvisor is the largest travel review website on the net with Millions of members so they cannot be written off like peter and Aqua Dives is doing.

Yes anyone can go on there and post a review and I would prefer to see a min number of contributions before being allowed to post a review but the fact remains operators are now held to account as the customer can post there real experiences on how they were treated and the overall experience.

If a negative review is posted the owner of the business has the opportunity to comment on the situation and give there side of the issue as the customer is not always right and can on occasion give false truths.

however if you read the 2 responses that AD responded to you will see half there problem with attitude.

When I had my resort we had complaints for sure and I absolutely agree you cannot please everyone and not all personality's gel and I believe a 5% dissatisfaction rate is acceptable although its always good to strive for 100% but that is almost impossible even for the very best operations.

Because we sometimes had a complaint it nearly always drowned out all the positives so i started giving every hotel guest a an envelope and questionaire so they could give there honest reviews seal it and the desk clerk would hand them into me for viewing.

By doing this i could see where improvement was needed but also I now had honest written proof of thousands of happy campers all real with real names emails etc and this came in very handy when the very odd customer had a problem I could produce thousands of excellent reviews.

With a site like Tripadvisor you have to read through the lines as the good comments can be false too, It always raises concern when there is just one contribution and they joined the same day it was posted.

They post how great an operation is or how bad an operation and this should be taken lightly however if someone posts clearly showing who they are and that they have contributed multiple reviews or are a part of that websites community you have to give them full credability.

If it was my dive op and I was getting reviews like that there would be a answer from me for every one and i would want to know there names and check against my hotels register and also the questionaire they filled in.

Theres one of Peters little digs again but at least its not at me this time :D

Steves site is a portal he lists every business however does not add the dive operation or hotels contact information unless they pay a fee which is perfectly acceptable.

No different to the many similar sites even the dive mags do the same and exclude the contact info of those that don't advertise in there mag.

Peter, what's "awful" about Trip Advisor?

It's not moderated, and is quite often used for bogus posts which either build up an operation and of course come from the operator, or totally denigrate and come from competitors or others who see an interest in that business being knocked. There are hoteliers here who have suffered from posts which are clearly bogus but which they cannot do anything about. I suffered from blatant lies posted by someone who wanted to destroy my business; when I sent the TripAdvisor management proof that these statements were false they refused to do anything to remove them, and they are there to this day. It is the most appalling website and if you read it I strongly suggest you take a very large pinch of salt.
