I'm looking forward to a trip too Bonaire in October and I'm wondering if I should bother bringing my knife. I don't imagine there's to much risk of entanglement from fishing line and thats all I've used it for at home. Also my buddy has a 35 watt Salvo can light that he doesn't think he should bring. I think it would be great for night diving as I wouldn't have to carry a light:D. Anyone have an opinion?

Happy New Year!

You won't need a knife. There are no lines that you would need to cut yourself free from or entanglement hazards. You can bring it as a "just-in-case" kind of thing if it makes you feel more comfortable, but it's totally unnecessary.

35 watts is completely unnecessary as well. It's overkill. You buddy can leave that light at home and save the weight in luggage.

Have a great time.

A small knife or shears are useful to remove the rope from lost anchors and fishing line etc. My brightest light is a 2 Watt LED, too much light ruins the NIGHT dive.

No need to bring a dive knife. My advice is to invest in a small shears & clip onto your BC for the purposes of cutting any mono.
Leave the airplane lights for night diving at home. Smaller is better.
