Give us a clue what you’re talking about.

Computer? Gills? Portable sonar? Magic buoyancy device? Comms device? MP3 player and headphones that work down to 200m/600ft (I’d buy that!)

And for reference the OP is from the US, but the link goes to a website with .CN as the domain (I didn't click through at this point).

Haha, I get it! Just looking to gather ideas and see what features or improvements divers like you would love to see in a new product. No specifics yet—just curious about what you’d find most useful or exciting. Would love to hear your honest thoughts!

Thanks for pointing that out! The survey is actually hosted via a trusted platform, and the domain ending in .CN is just where the survey is managed. We're a legitimate team working on this project, and your privacy and data security are our top priorities. If you have any concerns, feel free to ask—I’m happy to provide more details!

So there is no new groundbreaking smart diving product at this point?

I would like to buy a tank that never runs out of air. And allows me to skip deco stops. Also if I don't get narced breathing from it, all the better.

I would like a camera that doesn't need a flash to capture even the furthest subjects with amazing bright colors. And a mask that illuminates the view so well that I can leave my torch home.

A drysuit that doesn't make me sweat when I put it on would be neat too. And a wetsuit that is as easy to put on as a t-shirt.

Once those features are implemented, we could do something about the jerks who keep crashing to me from random directions on crowded dives.

I want a Ti regulator that can be used for deco tanks, a rebreather that monitors EtcPpCO2, and a dive computer that can read my VGI and update the GF accordingly
I also would like to be able to listen to music at 60m depth

Diving's pretty well serviced with lots of companies, large and small, catering for the perceived needs.

The market is quite wide, so has segmented into different needs and markets, ranging from once-a-year divers on holiday through to committed addicts diving as much as they can. The former light-diving category doesn't spend much on kit; the latter (often called technical divers) spends ridiculous amounts, $10's of thousands.

As one of the latter group, I want stuff that works as it pisses me off to replace broken things. Examples:
  • Light-for-Me batteries with broken switches. The company has basically gone under and hasn't been servicing clients for years (pre covid they were crap, post covid they're dead).
    • I would like someone in China to copy their circuit boards and connectors and sell them to people to fix their kit.
    • I would like a remote heater switch (using E/O cables) that has a DC to DC converter to keep the voltage stable (12v). It could have a Pitkin controller built in (pulse modulation of the 12v supply)
  • DiveXtras for their Blacktip DPV (scooter thing with a propeller) as mine keeps leaking and I'm facing a massive bill to send the sodding thing back again.
  • Torches/flashlights that break and cost many $hundreds to replace out of warranty. There's tons of them available, but for the technical divers, they need to be reliable, have the right beam patterns and work at 150m/500ft minimum.
Alas none of that lot are a mass market, so nothing you're looking for.

You could have a look at Avelo who built a complicated gadget to "aid" buoyancy control. They will definitely make a small fortune as they've started with a massive fortune and are spending it like it's going out of fashion. All marketing for no need.
