My hair ends up not just looking frightful, but in a matted mess after dives. I was thrilled to discover Aussie Knot Forgotten. It smells great, and my fingers slide through the tangles like a charm.

Great ideas! Thanks. I was glad my boyfriend dives when I saw my hair after diving the the boat ride back. Figured the bikini top would help defer the eyes! I look like I stuck my finger in the wall socket till it shorted the house! I will try some of the conditioner suggestions and let you know.

Have fun!

WHO cares what your hair looks like?? I for one am proud to have "dive hair" and to show all else that I HAVE BEEN DIVING!!! i think all women should be proud of their dive hair. ITS COOL!! but a hat works to, cuz then u cover the ugly dive hair and have cool dive hair sticking out!!

jrdivagrl, not to offend you or anything but you'll understand when you start getting interested in guys why you want your hair to look nice. Even if you are married you still want to look good for your hubby.

I generally just brush through my hair as soon as I get out of the water which is great, but the boat ride back can be a pain if you don't pull your hair back. If that's the case, I've been known to put a do-rag on my head and that hides the hair pretty well. Those work well for hair that is shoulder length or shorter.

Redken also makes a line of sun protection for your hair. They have this spray in sun screen that I used for 6 days in Turks in May. I sprayed it in prior to my first dive, during my surface interval and after the second dive and combed it through with a wide toothed comb. Had my hair highlighted 2 days before I left and when I came back my highlights were the same as the day I walked out of the salon.

I went on two hour long dives and a 45 minute snorkel in between them on Saturday. This is in Hawaii (sun and salt water). My hair was absolutely crunchy! Yuck.

I just went into the store like that. My hair is thick and coarse and it would have taken me about 15-20 minutes to get some conditioner in it and combed through. Had to get to the dive store before they closed.

Anyway, I'm just saying I can relate.

I recently discovered L'Oreal kid's detangler. My hair is fine and can get so entangled I have to cut the tangled bit off. The L'Oreal kid's detangler works like a charm! I just spray the stuff generously into my hair after I surface and brush through. It's not sticky and smells nice too!

I was told by the girl that recommended this to me that the kid's version works better than the adult. I took her advice and will never look back.

Hey scubagirl!
If you want to save $$ on your next bottle, make it yourself. Fill the bottle almost full with water, add about a tablespoon or so of your favorite conditioner and a couple drops of hair polish. You get this in the beauty supply stores, GREAT for detangling and making your hair shiny. 4oz may run you $8-$10 or more, but will last a year. YOu only need a couple drops. Made and sold under various names, but its a thick clear liquid.
Matter of fact, you could probably just go with the hair polish. I swear by it.
