Has anyone been in the water at Cape Ann lately? Just wanted to know what the dive conditions were looking to be like. Temp, viz etc. Thanks.

48F. it's been a little windy, so site selection is critical.

Thanks. How was the vis?

Did 2 dives at Back Beach in Rockport on Black Friday. Water temp 50F according to my Vyper. Vis was pretty poor at about 3-5 feet. Thankful for a canister light even on a sunny day in shallow water. Quite a bit of surge underwater. We dove between 10AM and 1PM.....on what turned out to be a beautiful day above water. Not much worth noting underwater = a few lobsters, lots of crabs, very few fish.

We stopped by Old Garden Beach first and it is indeed true - no sand left on the beach

My computer indicated 45 degrees the whole time (both air and water temp). Also, as we were leaving, I heard two other divers confirming that they'd both seen 45 degrees throughout the dive. I guess we were warmer than we should have been!

2 dec - scallop dive with CAD in Salem Sound. Gray skys, good vis - no lights needed. temp at 50' 41F. the transit was a little rough...
