Surface Temp: Mid 80's
Vis @ surface to 24ft: 4-8ft

Temp @ 32ft: low 70's

At 24 ft it started getting cloudy and by the time we hit 32ft the vis was less than 2ft.

Clay, James and I (yes, I was diving tonight) enjoyed a relaxing dive exploring Cypress Creek Wall for more treasures while our guest skipper David fended off boat and jet ski traffic.

It was a good thing I brought the lift bag because shortly into the dive two anchors were found stuck in cables and between some rocks at 65' depth. Although they added some drag during the dive I was determined to surface with my find. James surfaced with a headfull of sunglasses, a beaded braclet and some miscellaneous goodies.

Visibility above 50' was average lake vis, up to 10', while below 50' visibility opened up to around 12'-15'. Temps were 85* from surface to 25' with a slow and steady drop to 67* at 60'.

Come out to enjoy the lake and dive from Giant Stride. Each site counts as a different site for those participating in the Dive Around Texas competition.

The Island off of Eagle Point
AKA ~The Armadillo Hole :D

101F outside air
I went Sleeveless/Solo today on my dive.
very nice warm water to the thermo @ 27 feet with vis in the not too bad range.
colder and more clear below that.
Best vis at 40 to 55 feet... I could see 25 to 30 feet in places... really nice.
A person could probably see a buddies bubbles or for sure a flash light from 35 to 40 feet easy in that depth area.
Not bad but less vis and cold 48F down around 120+ Too busy working my way through the tree limbs to measure any vis. distances
Cool trees and walls as usual.

Divers from Laredo Scuba Diving Club traveled Del Rio, Texas to dive Lake Amistad, July 31, Saturday.

The average visability was 5 feet. Water temperature was 85 degrees between 5 to 15 feet. We dove down the wall to about 60 feet. The water temperature was at 75 degrees at 60 feet. The visability was at 15 feet at 60 feet.

Water Temp: 88 at the surface
Visibility: about 15 feet, 20 in some areas

Dive #1 - maximum depth 28 feet - 2 hours, 34 minutes
Dive #2 - maximum depth 24 feet - 2 hours, 40 minutes

Air temps were too hot for me to don a wetsuit, so dove with a dive skin and stayed above the thermoline (starting at 22 feet) most of the time.

Perch are actively nesting, more than half the nests had eggs in them. Saw lots of bass, 3 large catfish and an albino catfish. Good way to spend a hot summer's day. :)

Starnes Island @ Lake Travis w/Lake Travis Scuba

The viz here is still really holding strong! At 60' it's 15-20 I'd guess, and the temps are getting warmer too. Usually at this site, I stay around 60' and up, but we went down to 80 just to check the conditions. The viz is good from 50-80'

71 degrees @ 80'
Feels like bathwater above 30'

Lots of nice sunglasses, watches, etc were found last night, too! :D

Should we start looking for your loot on eBay or Craig's List? All the stories of loot found makes me wonder if it's possible on some of these dives to break even on the charter fees and/or gear rental prices? Now that would be pretty cool. :)

Water Temp: 89 at the surface, 86 just above thermocline
Visibility: about 15 feet

Dive #1 - maximum depth 28 feet - 2 hours, 55 minutes
Dive #2 - maximum depth 24 feet - 2 hours, 25 minutes

Albino catfish were making an appearance today.

The large sunken boat had about 22 perch hanging out in the cabin.

Someone stuck a tree limb with branches in the mud, and perch were hanging around close to it. They looked like ornaments on a tree.

Lots of divers there for a Friday, and classes were setting up for the weekend. :)
