Hello,

I am a newly certified diver, but I have been diving on vacations for about 4 years before becoming certified.

I'm actually looking for any information anyone might have about some sort of dive cleanup. For my biology class, we have to do some sort of environmental community service and I thought it would be great if I could incorporate scuba diving into it somehow, but I haven't been able to find out much by googling "dive cleanup" or anything of the sorts.

I'm located near Orlando, Florida so I don't really want to have to travel too far because of my schedule with school and softball. But if anyone has any information about one or how I could possibly organize one, I would really appreciate it!

Thanks!

Lauren

Way back in the 70's we had an ecology club at our high school. Perhaps there is an ecology club in your community (school related or not) that would love to have a diver work with them on a clean up. You could get the junk in the water that they can't reach. $0.02.

The marinas around our local lake (Allatoona Lake) would join together with the scouts to have a Lake Clean UP day. Many of us would volunteer to walk designated shore line and collect trash. OK, now that's $0.4.

Check the Dayo website. They have one scheduled soon in a lake in Winter Park, FL. Google them for the proper address. By the way, ScubaBoard's HQ! is next door to Dayo.

I checked out the Dayo website and found the info about the cleanup dive in Winter Lake, which would have been perfect except I have a softball tournament that weekend! :( So if you hear about anything else, let me know please!

Thanks!!!

Dayo's lake clean up is now March 26th. Check out their web site for additional info. Morning dive, free BBQ lunch and T-shirt.
