Not to rain on your vacation but you better check to make sure your hotel is still going to be there. It is slated for demolishion last month! I heard they were started to take it down this week.

Having said that...
Hook up with H2O Scuba or The Dive Stop. Both great operations and near the hotel.

Agree w/ all parts of the post -

Especially about the hotel; know its coming into "Season" but I would think twice about staying there if its slated to be torn down right after your scheduled visit - BTW, plans now call for the demolition in May 2007, but my comments stand - experienced (always bad) staying at a hotel that had just been sold, or was closing; found out after the fact and it explained everything.

The Sheriton is a pretty hotel, in a great area, with a long history of mismanagement, much of which can be attributed to its ownership and financing.

You might also check RJ Diving Ventures, a little farther south on Miami Beach - this link should take you there as well as describe some of the Miami sites

You can drive south to RJ at the Miami Beach Marina or north to American Dream at Pier 66 in Fort Lauderdale. Both run their own boats and both are ok.

H2O Scuba (Henry Del Campo) was kicked out of their waterfront shop over a year ago and condos are going up on the land there in Sunny Isles. They sold the H2O Diver as well and I believe they typically run their trips w/ RJ Diving now.

The only boat I know that's running in the North Miami Beach / Bal Harbor area is a six-pack boat at Haulover called Tropic Diver but the guy that runs it is very rude and I would look else where.

I guess he's seen the tattoo then?
