We are going to our certification dives on Turtle Reef (near the Cracked Conch) and will be done as shore dives. We plan to stay within the OW limits for this trip, so we won't be diving the wall, but the Kittiwake is an option. We're going with a small company so our locations can be somewhat customized. The training will be just us with the instructor. We've scheduled the certification dives for the 1st two days that we are there, then we will have three and a half more days during which we can dive (leaving 24 hours between the last dive and our flight).

Hi Gryffin!

Welcome to the wonderful world of diving! I’ll try to answer some of your questions.

1. How many days to stay? Key Largo is a great attraction for divers. I would plan at least two full days of diving in the keys. You might need to add a couple of extra days if you wish to do anything topside.

2. How far in advance to book? In reality, you can probably book dives the day before you want to go. However, it might be nice to have a reservation for your peace of mind. Booking a week or less before your departure makes sense so you can see the weather forecast.

3. Exposure clothing? The water temperatures in Florida in March average about 21C. You might need a 3mm or 5mm wetsuit for comfort. You can find more about the weather averages and dive shop reviews on our page about Florida: https://diviac.travel/d/florida/
