Come join us at for “Dive Camp” at Coco View Resort April 4 – 18, 2009
“Dive Camp” is our group name for a trip made up mostly of divers who became friends on past trips to CoCo View (Welcome to CoCo View Resort). The group has grown based on those friends passing the word to others or divers we have met at Coco View and decided to join us. The theme is one of friendship mostly, but we do encourage people to do something to improve their dive skills and the owner of Dockside Dive Center has agreed to discount course fees if she gets four people taking the same course.
The dates for 2009 are for two weeks, but you can opt to do one week. The two week trip is a better deal since you have the whole weekend in between to dive which would normally be your gassing off and travel days on a one week trip. Two weeks at the resort is more like three in terms of how much diving you can get in for the number of days there. On the weekend, especially Saturday, there are far fewer divers in the water.
We opt to pass the value of the free slot we get on to the group in the form of goodies. All Dive Campers will get a T-Shirt, luggage tags, currency converter (all said that was really handy) and a bunch of little things to make the trip more fun and comfortable. For instance, Bruce always have a “mini-pharmacy” with me of assorted things most people don’t think to bring such as seasickness meds, aspirin, Motrin, etc. He buys OTC meds in big bottles and give the pills away in a baggie. We also produce a very comprehensive packing list to help make sure you don’t forget to pack the essentials!
We locked in on the 2008 prices, it includes your room, all meals, all diving and unlimited tanks, weights and belts if needed. Non-Diver rates are $100 less, whether for one week or two. The extras you may have to pay are your bar tab, gift shop, NITROX, night dives from the boat (shore night dives are free), all day trips, dive center training or supplies, and off resort activities. The whole resort runs on a tab system so you don’t have to pay until the day before departure. The resort also has free wireless internet in the clubhouse and they are working to try to extend that to the rooms right now, but no guarantee when that will be done.
Airfare is “on your own” as our group comes from all over and it would be impossible for Bruce to make group arrangements. This year we had people from as far west as Alaska, as far north as Timmons Ontario, and as far east as Warsaw Poland! The rest of the group is from all over the US.
PM me if you are interested.
BTW, Dork Divers are MOST WELCOME as we are just that.
