use virkon that's what I use for all my all rebreathers works great and doesn't wreck the soft parts a container will last a long time , not sure why you have to sign for though......maybe that's a Canadian thing
 
I agree with HKGuns, never let your reg touch a communal rinse tank. I just rinse my reg with a bit of bottled water.
My face mask never goes in a communal rinse tank, especially now!
 
Amron International sells Sanizide, which is a quaternary ammonium chloride based disinfectant. If you really want to be assured of a sanitary regulator, something like that is probably the way to go.

Make sure you rinse it very well before you put it in your mouth -- my resident nuclear chemist says it's a cell disruptor, it'll kill anything that has cells.

Good point. That's part of the recommended directions for use when decontaminating diving equipment with it. Here's something from the US Naval Experimental Diving Unit.
