Oops. Yes you are right. But then it means JJ dives with people who can't you a light properly

Since GI3 uses a clear mask skirt, doesn't that mean JJ knows how to use his light?

The reason why most GUE trained divers wear black is much more simple than rule #6 (a compelling reason though :D). Most divers try and stay somewhat color coordinated, and have over the years found that if a piece of equipment breaks and needs replacement, the chances of finding something in the exact same hue is difficult. Companies change their gear line-ups, discontinue products. This is not a problem with black, they all look the same.

Also, when gear starts to wear, black looks much better than other colors.

OK. Time for an episode of GUE Myth Busters.

Why a black drysuit? Because the red in DUI suits screwed up the color balance in underwater video footage for various documentaries done on GUE and WKPP projects. The producers complained, so *some* divers who were appearing in videos got all-black drysuits to accomodate the lighting needs of the cameras. Unfortunately, the red/black looked better in *photos*, so many ended up getting at least one of each. With the advances in both digital video and still cameras and lighting, drysuit color is becoming less of an issue.

Why black fins and wings? This could certainly be an influence of cave diving, where following a set of bright fins or wings (or drysuit *legs*) reflecting your light would get old pretty quick. Open water is not an issue, but you shouldn't be far enough from your buddy that you need bright fins to find them. <g> They are certainly handy for dive guides, though (per Fraser Purdon's baby blue Jet Fins).

Why black everything else? Accessorize, accessorize, accessorize... <g>

I actually think I know where we can get some non-black colored Jets....
