30 miles out at sea but not even a little "save a dive kit" with you? DINs definitely the way to go then.

:)

So yoke is not recommended for cave diving?

Correct, if you see 300 cave divers in a summer, guess how many will not be diving DIN? NONE.

But if you see 30, 000 rec divers how many will be diving yoke (with o-rings clutched tightly)?

Sinbad, you seem to be leaning towards the DIN. Based on what you've said in this thread and the support for that you're finding here from cave divers and the Jims out there, just do it. Get yourself the DIN and be happy.

You realize not every region of the world dives yoke right? There are other parts of this giant rock other than the US and US's outlying territories.

Yes, aware of that. I've been diving on the other side of the world a few times. Guess I have further to go as I've not yet been to DINland.

Be that as it may, this thread is about whether or not Captain Sinbad will be going to DINland.

Try the other other side of the world then
It helps to know what the "D" in DIN stands for to know where "DINland" would be...

Is it fair to say that outside of Europe, 99% of the rental tanks in the remainder of the world are yoke? In the tropical destinations I've been to, I have not seen a DIN tank, though I suspect guests with DIN regs could be accommodated if they made arrangements.

No, the divers likely have their own adaptors with them having made an educated choice to go with DIN regs. Or alternately, being educated in these matters, the diver(s) have a set of travel regs that are yoke.
