Just got and used my new regs for the first time. They are DIN and I am wondering where (or if) people attach the dust caps so they don't get lost. With the yoke ones I was used to the dust cap always remained with the regulator and I think I would prefer my DIN dust cap to do the same so I don't have to worry about where I put it or whether it is going to roll away on the boat. I see that the dust cap has a hole at the top that I could fasten a ring or a zip tie to but the question is where to fasten it at the other end. My first stage does not have any handy spots - just a smooth surface with the hoses running out. I could in a pinch probably fasten some tubing around enough of the hoses to keep the dust cap with the first stage instead of sliding down a hose but I am (a) reluctant to put pressure at the top of the hoses and (b) thinking there must be a better way.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Mine just had a little string on them I just looped it through itself around the high pressure house fitting hangs just fine there when diving and never gets lost or tangled

Mine are not attached. I keep them dry in the reg bag. A yoke dustcap can be dried (but not really cleaned) by cracking the valve at the end of the dive and blowing off the watert. A DIN dust cap is much harder to dry, let alone clean. Salt will build up in the threads if you just dry it (assuming salt water of course). You'd have to wash it and then dry it before putting it on your reg - thereby complete negating the original purpose (preventing water/crud from getting into your first stage).

I wash my regs pressurized so that is not an issue. The dust cap stays attached to the first stage, then rinses with everything. The first stage gets disconnected and dried completely (Read over a day of dry time) before the cap is reinstalled.
