Hi guys
I recently received my hog regs with a din to yoke adapter.
The tanks we use here are all yoke and personally this is the first time I see a din reg.
My question is when screwing in the yoke adapter, do I need to screw the adapter all the way down? The adapter seems to get tight with plenty of threads left on the Din first stage.

Many thanks in advance.

screw it down until it stops. Put it on a tank and see if it leaks. I doubt it will, my Zeagle Flatheads have threads showing after tightening the adapter down. I love the options you get with DIN/Yoke adapters.

I believe the HOG has a 300 bar din connector which has 7 threads. The adapter will work with both a 300 bar connector or a 200 bar din connector. The 200 bar din connector has 5 threads. The threads you see are what should occur.

Don't forget to look at the tanks and see if they are the pro valves. If they are, remove the insert and forget the yoke adapter all together!

In this region, most of the rental tanks are the pro valves.

Sorry but what is a 'pro valve'??
I live in Asia and we typically use yoke.

Thanks guys for all the advices!

Some valves are "combination DIN and yoke" - they have a threaded insert you can remove so the DIN first stage will thread right in.

I have not heard them called "pro valves" but that just might be my ignorance...

Check the valve closely you might be surprised as I think combination valve are becoming more popular.....

Sorry. They switch between a 200bar DIN and a typical yoke valve. Most tanks anymore come standard with the 'pro' valve. Keep a set of allen wrench in your kit. I believe they need a 7mm allen wrench to be removed. The insert simply screws in and out.

On the link that was given by Jorgy above, you select the valves as Pro 200bar and DIN 200bar. I don't know if this is a Thermo only nomenclature or not.

I may as well add.

If you regulator has the 300bar DIN on it, it will work in a 200bar DIN valve. Two threads will be exposed once you attach your reg to the valve. This is normal and fine.

Now if you have 200bar DIN reg, it will not work on a 300bar DIN valve.

200bar DIN is 5 threads and 300bar DIN is 7 threads.

Guys, thanks for the wonderful advice!

as far as I know, the term "Pro Valve" is a company product name that has turned into a generic name for the dive industry to describe the "convertible DIN/Yoke valve". Just like Kleenex is now a generic name for tissue, but is actually a company product name.

In this case Thermo Valves called their product for the "convertible DIN/Yoke insert valve" the "Pro Valve".

The "Pro valve" has a DIN insert that you insert and screw in via threads (as Jorgy pointed out). you use an allen wrench to tight it down. Anyone who'd used a screwdriver before can easily remove/install one.

now several different companies make a "convertible valve" and it's almost standard on new steel tanks. Other companies that make them include XS Scuba, Sanosub(BlueSteel), and several OEM's in tawain.

here is a pic of one for reference.
