Quick question. If you use a Din reg with a yoke adapter, does it limit the performace at all, or does it work and look basically the same? If you were primarily only going to use yolk tanks is it better to just have a yoke reg with no adapter?

There will be no conceivable difference in performance. You will have the flexibility to do what you wish. enjoy!

So far I had no issues using the adapter,I'm using DIN only on my own tanks, but during a dive trip,I allways bring the yoke adapter(never know if DIN is available).Only problem is that the reg.gets a bit longer with the adapter, comparing to a yoke reg.

Even though I prefer DIN, I finally tossed in the towel and went back to yoke.

The problem I had was that I could never find DIN tanks when I travel. So I always had to bring my yoke adapter, which meant one more piece of gear to carry, more weight and a bigger regulator. That didn't make sense because I purposefully set up my gear to keep weight, regs and hoses to a minimum by using an Atomic T2 reg, an Atomic SS1 titanium safe second/inflator and a Suunto air-integrated computer.

As far as performance, though, there was no difference between using my DIN and using it with my yoke adaptor.

And there is something to be said for flexibility. It just wasn't worth it for me.

The adapter will not effect performance. It does add some parts and an extra o-ring seal so there is a slight failure risk.

In some cases (Sherwood for 1) it will make the regulator into a headbanger.

If you plan to dive all yoke then by all means get the regulator refitted so it's native yoke. Parts tend to run $50 new. Labor if you are not DIY varies.

no performance difference as far as i can tell

do be careful to set it well. they tend to go into free flow if you jump in the water without a tight enough connection

What about in reverse? A yoke regulator with a DIN adapter?

And considering buying a new reg. which has the best DIN adapter? Scubapro/Tek/AqualungTitian or others?

Thank you all for the replys! As always you all help me with my decisions. This is such a difficult decision. I would like to get more involved with wrecks too which I hear is best to be DIN due to the lower profile design. I also hear that they have adapters now for the tank valves. So a yoke tanke valve can fit a din regulator setup. Is this true? I think it would be best to have the din with yoke adapter but if I can only get tanks with yoke setups I dont think it would be efficient to dive all the time using the din to yoke adapter. Would you agree?

If it helps the reg Im getting is the Zeagle flathead 7. I was also reading othe forums that speak to HP tanks. It sounds like I would only be able to use a HP tank if I got the DIN version?

Do you mean that you can refit the regulator to make the original din reg with a yoke adapter into a a native yoke reg?
