Hello all. My background: Im a fairly new diver with approx. 40 dives, certified Rescue Diver, My 1st/2nd stages are Scubapro Mk25(yoke) with S600 and Air2 for alt. I dive around Okinawa mostly. I dont think i need to explain the area too much but i normally dive between 60 and rec limits. So in saying that, Im at kind of a crossroad right now tryin to decide what i want to do with my reg. Im thinking its time that i goto din so i can run steels when i feel like. The problem im having is:
-Deciding which 1st stage to buy.
Should i get the same mk25 in din and just swap over my 2nd stage or buy a different make or model for din. Im happy with my mk25 so far. No problems right now. I have read an article about the regs and understand what the reviewers say but i want the opinion of the users. Which din reg have you used and what do you like or dislike about it. Hopefully i can get some good incite on which ones people like. Thanks in advance.

Welcome Monk!

I have no experience with Scubapro so this may or may not help. Both of my regs(Aqualung Legend and Sherwood Maximus) have yoke and DIN adapters so I can switch either one back and forth. Both are rated to handle HP steel tanks. If your mk25 is rated for HP and they make a DIN adapter for it you would be all set. I'd be surprised if Scubapro was so limiting in their regs that you need to buy another reg to go DIN.

Just convert the yoke mk25 to DIN. Not hard at all... It's a great first stage.

I Agree with Perrone
No need to change first stage. I have both DIN and Yoke for my first stage. Personally I prefer DIN, however when on vacation I need yoke as thats all most rental shops have.
To switch all I need is a large adjustable spanner, it only need to be cinched up just over hand tight. I bet there is a torque setting but I have never bothered to look it up.

well, imma goto our local scubapro dealer and check to see what they have in stock. If i can just do that it would make everything a whole lot cheaper.

Just go see C or Gary at Torii station and have them set you up with a conversion and a Yoke adapter . When i lived there all my stuff was converted to DIN ( much safer ) and with a DIN first stage and adapter you are set for any tank you buy or rent.

Thanks, i actually just got back from searchin around the island.. found the din conversion for only 43USD.. i was surprised as hell.. thanks all for the advice. I think i should have just went din to begin with. I bought my tanks with provalves because i knew sooner or later i would change over to din... once again, thanks for help all.

Now you can dump the pro-valve on your tank and just put a 300bar DIN on it so your regulator screws in all the way!
