Has any tried the Sherwood SR1??

I have been running for about 6 weeks now. It by far is the the best Regulator I have ever used, hands down. Price is in the 500 - 600 dollars range. its environmentally sealed too. and one the best on the market right now
the WOB is amazing and when you buy it it comes with free lifetime replacement parts.
it is top of the line for sherwood, so its dependable and rugged.

Next best is the legend by aqualung it is a bit more expensive ( i think). but its a GREAT regulator. just make sure you invert the first stage so you have it sticking up high of the tank. Or you will end up with a really bad head ache.

Apeks works fine but kind of expensive, i wasnt too impressed

i think the older cheaper oceanics are better, than these newer ones, but after the alpha 8s came out is was turned off to them.

Oceanic Alpha 7's are probably the best rental regs ever made and very maintainence free. They changed abit in the alpha 8's and to me do not seem as sturdy.

I have been useing the sherwood magnums for my rental gear for the past 6 mths. I have been impressed with them. They are comparable to the Alpha 7's as far as ruggedness and maintaince free goes(so far). and they actually breath better than the alpha 7's to

anyhow I have to say ive been converted to sherwood stuff
sr1- top of the line - 500-600
magnum- middle line 300-400
Brut- budget line 200-300

By no stretch of the imagination can you call the Sherwood SR1 "dependable and rugged," in comparison with virtually any other high regulator currently available. This reg has only been around a year or two, and there have been all sorts of problems with it. While problems with new reg designs are not unheard of (to say the least) this one has simply not been around enough to prove itself, and it's not even off to a good start. The design is a total departure from previous sherwood regs.

I have seen one, brand new out of the box, and it had 10PSI IP creep, and had a lousy cracking pressure of over 2". Not very impressive.

i agree with mattboy. sherwood does make some nice gear, but this is not one of their better efforts.

The SR1 takes a beating on the message boards, but I haven't had a problem with mine as yet, deep or shallow. But it certainly breathes well at depth.

Mind you, I just got an e-mail from the nice people at Leisurepro saying that they are knocking them down to US$374 (plus free shipping) for a while, so I guess they are having trouble shifting stock again.
