Hey everyone. I’m based in Asia and own a mk25/s600,r195

I’m doing a DM course that requires me to dive at around 6m every 2 weeks and am trying to get a separate set of regulator that can withstand rough use during lessons.

Then I came across this Chinese brand named ‘DiDeep’ which a full set of regulator with octopus and everything for quite cheap, less than 150usd.

has anyone used this / does anyone know anyone using this and can tell me more about how safe it is xD?

I doubt anyone will have experience with this brand.

But I'd take the chance if you really want a second regset. Regs are actually pretty simple machines. If it tests OK on the surface, it should work fine. Even if it fails completely, you'll only be 6m deep.

Personally though, I wouldn't bother. You've already got a very tough set of regs.

These are a basic reliable regulator design for general use that have been available for many decades

Just a shot in the dark about toughness/durability:

The 1sts stage looks like an mk2 clone; so it will take almost anything
The 2nds are probably functional, but the plastic of the case would be a „cheap“ polymer and can’t take much beating (not that you should beat it up — taking care of your equipment is something a DM should be attentive to)
But you are looking for a beater, so could be just the right thing

In contrast, the Scubapro 2nds stages are the toughest out there (polymer wise); testimonies are „you can drop a tank on it and nothing breaks“

The SPG… idk 🤷🏽‍♀️

Understand that with these you're buying the lowest possible quality of everything. Just barely good enough to work for a little while before they start having expensive problems. Worst quality of part machining, of materials, of coatings, of o-rings, of hoses, of valve seats, of quality control, of design testing, of customer support and everything else. Made in factories with the lowest possible standards for labor rights and pollution control. These are regulators, but they are awful regulators.

Maybe you can find Taiwan made regulators, not as cheap, but higher standards. Anyway, simple piston is quite simple

Do you have any actual information on these regs or are you just projecting based on country of origin?

I can (barely) remember when people made fun of Japanese cars and I can easily remember when people make fun of Taiwanese electronics and tools. Guess what? Things can change.

Unfortunate name

I read it with a short "i', but from now on my brain is going to see it as "die deep".

But it still should be fine for the OP's 6m dives :)

I have bought super cheap 1st stages and found metal chips from machining inside them. I have bought cheap bottom-of-the-barrel reg hoses and had them fail catastrophically within weeks, or degrade quickly while quality rubber hoses last years. As far as I know, things still haven't "changed" for the uyghurs and dissidents disappeared to labor in the factories of that country of origin.
