If I were you, I would never go there again.

If I were the person you brought the tank back to, I would have inspected the tanks o-ring, if it were bad. I would have given you some sort of coupon or receipt for a free tank rental, and maybe even a little more. I have done stuff like that in the past, and wouldn't mind doing it again, if it were something where me or my shop were at fault.

I don't see how people on here can defend the shop. Sure, the shop can do what it wants and owes Texaswinds approximately nothing, and maybe the shop was not in the wrong *at all*... but seriously... it shows very poor customer service for something so petty and cheap and ultimately will cost the shop a precious customer.

It's bad business to try to stand up for yourself over something so petty. Lay down, take the $10 hit, and make it back later from the referrals, repeat business, etc. From the shops perspective, first few times a customer tries to pull something like this, you give in. After that, you realize it's a customer you don't want and send them packing.

well at the diveshop i goto.. i rented the tanks and had no problems but while the tanks were filling and i was buying more stuff the phone rang and she grabed the phone and then i looked at the gage on the wall and was like hmm thats odd looks to high.. when i got closer i noticed the tanks were filled to 4100 psi.. and i was like this cant be good.. so i said how do i turn this off? and she was like o s... and truned it off.. and these were there rental tanks they scraped all 3 of them..

Why would you scrap a tank that was filled to 4100 PSI? Dont they hydro test them to 5000 psi?

Another scubaboard fairy tale

who cares, you did'nt even blow the o-ring, you would'nt scrap the tanks, they hit higher pressure in hydro's. Jusat take advantage and dive the extra air.

Three certified divers and between the three of them they could not handle an o-ring. Did'nt they have a comedy series about these guys?

:rofl3:
"Hey Moe!!...nyuk,nyuk,nyuk...."

My solution would be as follows:

When the shop refused credit, say OK I don't want to return it yet.
Go out to the parking lot and open the Valve all the way. Let all the air out. Now you have used the air you paid for, the dive shop has to visual the tank, the tank also will have a shorter life span from the temperature change of releasing all the air so quickly.

Oh I forgot to add, NEVER step foot in the shop again.

Thankfully the 2 dive shops near me are both owned by great people that appreciate their customers.
