don't know the streets, what was the shop name Tom? Jim berhms of Ocean Concepts and Brian Benton of Dive Oahu are the only Scubapro dealers I know anymore. I just got good prices from dive Oahu. South Seas doesn't have SP anymore.

Not a retail shop - it's the Scubapro office in all those warehouses south of Ward. I got whatever I needed COD. There used to be US Divers/Trident over in Pearl City, Oceanic out in Campbell, and Dacor just north of Ward. Mares was opening something on Sand Island road, but I never dealt with them. As long as you had a business license and insurance, the companies above were all willing to help out. Oceanic had some keyman deals that were staggering.
Sherwood had already closed their office way earlier so I just got it from a friend with a distribution chain in California.
I remember getting some stuff from Dive Rite when Lamar started up shop. This stuff was pretty strange-looking. The backplates looked pretty handy for bank robbery. This was when we were cave diving on Oahu with no lines or reels - just memorizing the way in and out. At least one of us had a light though.

Last time I was in Coral Divers before I left Dave there said Sully is gone and their DM not working there anymore. Not sure what happened, didn't ask.

Is Noel still working there? I was surprised and pleased to see him this past summer - I always enjoyed talking to him when HSA was still open.

I didn't know Aloha was for sale. Are you sure it's not Dive Makai ?

Wrong island. I believe there was an Aloha diving company on Oahu unaffiliated with Mike's boat on the Big Island that they're talking about.

There's more than one Aloha Dive Shop? The one I knew was in Hawaii Kai and owned by an old harridan ex-showgirl named Jackie. Her running mate was a nice one-legged lady named Renee.
Renee did a spin one night in the shop like a top, lost her balance, and leveled half of the shop -> things went flying everywhere. It was the funniest thing I ever saw, and she thought it was pretty good as well. Jackie was another story - she was so cheap that she used to use a piece of bent rebar on her larger boat to anchor in Moanalua Bay. It drove me nuts watching these bozos anchor and then plow the reef until it set.
Our discussions wound up being being a little less than civil on that topic. In her earlier days when she first opened up shop, she used to throw some pretty wild parties too - worthy of anything any Vegas or Hollywood debaucheries. I missed those fortunately - but the stories were legendary.

If I can add a little more current information, The Aloha Dive Shop in Hawaii Kai is now owned by Monique Patton and she's still running Jackie's boat "The First Lady".

I've done about 10 dives with them and have had a great time every trip. I took my OW cert with them and am taking my AOW with them. The DM's and instructors were attentive and competent.

By the way Moniques gave me a great deal on my gear beating the "on-line":14: quotes on every "item".

There's a 6 pack boat on the Big Island called Aloha Dive Co. that I think Ron Rosa was referring to when he asked if maybe Dive Makai ( a Big Island operator) was the one in mind.
