I already dry fit the manifold onto two 72’s on my bench. Alignment is not that bad once you get it started. I laid it down on a bench and got it started. Once it’s started it rolls on no problem. Not cross threading it at the beginning is the tricky part, just got to be ultra careful and alert.
I tried the bands that came with it and they line up perfect. I think the original set was for AL 80’s but 72 will work too, the center flat sections of the bands just pull in a little further to adjust for the 6.9” diameter instead of 7-1/4”, but it balances out.
I will post a pic when I get everything set up.

I have a set of small AL tanks with the solid manifold on them. Here's what they look like:

But...I just yesterday spent most of an hour trying to get them back together. Getting that second cylinder to screw onto the manifold is a bear! I suggest that it be a two-person job, as with only one person getting it alligned is difficult.

What did you do, Gorilla tape the J rod on?!

I do not. I had to play with the bands I got with the manifold, including using a delrin spacer/support to use withy AL63 tanks...

I believe my manifold may also be bent as it has a slight "v" to it IIRC.

. . .

It's a pain

Do you happen to know what the diameter was of those tanks?
8" and they were round bottom aluminums. I have a set in my basement. They weren't DOT tanks.

What are you looking for to rebuild it? If you are reusing the seats, everything else is just common Orings.

If you need a pull rod, I have 100 or so laying around. No, I'm not exaggerating.

These are the original Navy non-mag doubles. Yes I know I have the wrong manifold on them.

I like the backplate 😊

Hi @Tracy,
I already have a kit coming from Rob at the Scuba Museum. It should be here anytime.
I heard those round bottom AL 100’s were floaty as hell, true?
And thanks for the offer on the J-pull, I have several. Probably won’t use one but I would be kinda fun to have one on for the kids to gawk at and ask what’s it’s for.
I plan to use this set of doubles with no BC too.
