I posted this on a different forum but I think I might get more responses here. Sorry if it's repetitive.

The GUE literature indicates that stage and deco bottles should be piston regs for the improved resilience if the reg is flooded, however I see a lot of DIR practitioners using regs like the DST on their stages. Is this no longer a big deal?

It's not.
 
I have mostly sealed diaphragm regs. Hold over from diving colder water in MA (down to 36F in the winter). Don't let them purge down. Mine have always been fine at service time.
 
What literature claims piston only? I haven't seen that claimed in any of the newer lit....
 
It's possible what I have is out of date. I guess I'd better actually purchase a GUE membership.

Edit: Didn't see anything on the GUE site that mentioned one way or the other.

Maybe, maybe not. I think that the current version of some materials (like the original book) hasn't been updated in some time. The literature I've read recently has mostly been course packets and the newer books (the Rec book and the Tech book).
