Only two more days until we go to Coz - alreay booked for three days of diving with Christi - Blue XTSea. My hubby and I want to dive Devils Throat, has anybody dove it recently, if so let us know how you liked it. And Christi - if possible can we fit this in on our trip with you this time?

Also, interested in doing the Cenotes sometime, probably wont get to go this trip but want to hear about your experiences.

you will need to contact Christi via her business email...she does not conduct business on the board:)

I have been to Devils Throat/Cathedral/Puntu Sur many times....this is a fairly deep dive and restricts your bottom time....I would rather stay a bit more shallow and get longer bottom time just my 2pesos

I've done the Throat, but the last time was before Wilma. It is a pretty cool dive but rather deep, so it doesn't last long. It's worth doing, certainly, though maybe not all that often.

I dove the Dos Ojos cenotes a couple of years ago, and it was fantastic. The viz tests out at something like 1200 feet, so it's really like flying through a cave. Most of it is big rooms with air space above the water. Max depth was something like 20 feet. The water is chillier than in the Caibbean; you'll need a wetsuit. We went with Mateo at Blue Angel; he's a very experienced cave diver and instructor.

Devil's throat is worth doing - as pointed out it will be a short dive, but if you like swim-throughs and what not it's cool. I've done it 3 times post Wilma.
Also did Dos Ojos - possibly with the same Mateo - and the clarity of the water is astounding.

I thought the cenotes would be "meh" but they are UNREAL. Make it happen. Sacrifice a day on the ocean if you have to. It is worth it.

cenotes are well worth diving. we stay in playa del carmen or propertys south to cut down on travel time to sights. shops i have used are tank-ha, aquanauts, and dive mike. all good shops. you will do some ocean dives for dive master to check you out. the bat cave along with el pit are my favorite. good luck.

I'm with everyone else and would recommend both Devil's Throat and the cenotes, especially Dos Ojos.

I've done the Throat :( more than once. Once is enough I think. But the Cenotes are an adventure worth the time, trouble and expense...!

One a long dive week, do them after a few days to break up nitrogen loading, as they're shallow. On a short visit, do them last day to wash out before flying home. Rinses the salt our, too.
