Hi guys,

A friend of mine's friend has a son who died diving in the Solomons on the 4th of May. His name was Guarin Owen, 33, of Australia. Has anyone heard anything relating to this guy?

Cheers

SM

I'm not sure? I google the name Guarin Owen and may have found different people?

One named Owen Guarin in Sydney is assistant manger at Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, but his Linkendin page says he started at the University of the Philippines in 1988, 26 years ago - so the age doesn't fit. Owen Guarin - Australia | LinkedIn

Also, a Facebook page for the same name, location, and employer last posted on May 26. https://www.facebook.com/owen.guarin

There is an announcement on AFDA about a soccer player lost in a diving accident as your described. Vale Guarin Owen
However, a google search for AFDA shows that site "may be haked." :dontknow:

The AFDA is saddened to hear of the sudden passing of Guarin Owen.“I am very sorry to have to write to you about Guarin Owen. He had a diving accident in the Solomon Islands last Sunday week, 4th May, and he never resurfaced. I'm sure this is dreadful news for you as it has been for us.

Guarin's father, went over to the Solomon Islands to see how he could help and was there until they finished searching for him, but he was not found.

I am sorry you will have to break this news to the rest of your team and to the others he knew in the Brisbane Premier League.

Amongst our own network of friends, Guarin was well-known and liked and we have had good support and many caring messages from those we know. But we really knew nothing much about the network of his friends like the ones he played Frisbee with. So we would be pleased if you could help to pass on the information to anyone who knew Guarin. We are not intending to have a memorial service.”
Guarin's early Ultimate Career began back in Sydney in the early 2000s with Fakulti and Sydney Uni. Guarin travelled far and wide playing for a few years in Perth before moving to Brisbane and the BPL.He was one of the nicest and happiest people you would ever meet.Guarin, the Ultimate Community will miss youRIP
