Work has been keeping me busy but I was determined to get in the water Monday. I got the gear together and headed out for my local underwater playground. Winds were low and the Gulf was flat so things were very promising. I got to the parking area and loaded the sand-yacht. When I had almost reached the entrance I noticed a familiar face - Trever was about to make a dive. It was hot and sunny so we decided to meet down by the jetty to talk. I ended up doing one and a half dives with him, an unexpected bonus for the day. The water looked a little green from the surface and as we entered the dive the reason became clear .... there was a heavy silt haze everywhere. Viz could have been 30'-40' if not for the haze. The haze changed during both dives but most of the dive viz was 15'-20'. By the end of dive two the haze brought viz down to about 10'. There were bits of June grass but nothing to get worried about. Jellyfish were present but not in bothersome numbers and mostly comb-jellies. The anchor is half covered with sand again. Currents were stiff at times coming in from the Gulf on both dives - made for some nice drifting on the way back in. Water temps had dropped from my last dive, I got 75* for most of both dives. The predominant fish character of the day was the ever entertaining damsel fish. They were all over guarding their rocks and biting my legs. I tried to get some good pics of them but, as usual, they move faster than lightening. Here are the pics from the dive:
