I was not very optimistic about today's dive after checking out the jetties and the old pier on Saturday. Brown water and red warning flags were all over the place on Saturday. Today turned out to be one of those days that since you were expecting garbage, just OK was great! The water is turning blue again, viz was about 15', and the temp at 30' was 66 degrees. I stayed on the north side of the jetty and there was a slight current coming from the north. There was a large school of lady-fish on the way in and I got circled on the dive by a school of silver jacks of some sort. Other than that, there were the usual small fish. I saw a large blue crab midway through the dive and later an even larger one! The Star of the show was my first wild seahorse. He was about 4" to 5" long. Here are some pics:

Nice Report Yoda. Awesome shot of the seahorse. I'm envious, but happy you captured it for us to view. Outstanding,

Matt

Thanks for the Hippo shot, Yoda. Very nice. Very nice indeed.

My mother talks about going to Panama City when she was a teen. They stayed at a place called Camp Helen in Panama City (Not the present Camp Helen in PCB). They would walk on the beach and pick up seahorse skeletons. I have seen them on Black Bart and Bridge Span 14. I have heard of them being on piers around the bay. This is the first time I have heard of one on any of the jetties but I am so happy. Maybe the marvelous little creatures are making a comeback. Let's all hope so anyway. Thanks Yoda for such a great picture.

Honestly, when I saw your pics in the Photog forum, I thought you jumped on a plane to the Carribean or something. :D I hope the little guy is still there the next time I get out to the jetties(2weeks probably).

Great shots as always, I was at the beach Sunday and noticed the water clearing in Gulf Shores as well. I hope the clearish water sticks around!

That is a nice shot. I hope it keeps clearing for our trip. Hopefully you can join us.

If I can't join you, at least I can let you know how things are doing as we get closer to your visit. I'll be trying to get some boat dives in with a friend who just got certified. I'll let you know how things are if we get to go.

Reports are good, especially for my wife. She doesn't like brown water. :)

Keep watching, I try to put out a report for every dive. I've got a new thread for the dive I did on the 27th. We are scheduled to go out with ScubaTech this Saturday if it doesn't rain or the seas get too rough. If a no go there, the high tide at the jetties is in the afternoon so we'll try that. I'll post what ever happens.
