Ok, here is my (totally clueless) question. In this instance of needing positive pressure (assuming I have any way to recognize that I need it)

is there any benefit to me taaking a breath off an O2 regulator and administering it CPR-style to the victim (i.e. attempting to generate positive pressure)

or is it uselessly ineffective or just more likely to injure than to help ?

Check out the latest issue of the NACD magazine, there's a reprint from Sheck Exley on his idea of doing the exact same thing, complete with diagrams of the best way to position the regulator so it is easy to get to during the CPR breathing.

lol Denise I like the "did my homework" comment. You're doing a great job staying positive and patient. I hope #2 figures this out for you!

Yes Wow!! 2 in the first hospital. I was there for around 2 hours I believe. The rest over a 2 day period at the 2nd hospital.

My 2nd appointment with #2 pulmonary doctor is Friday. This will be before my follow up with the other 3 doctors though but he is suppose to have the results of the tests they ran.

I cannot begin to express what my heart feels for those who have reached out on this thread and through private messages to console, inform and encourage me. God bless you all. May we all find the peace, the serenity and the courage to continue to do that which we love so much beyond that which makes sense or meaning to anyone else.

Denise, in many respects you saved your own life. You forced air into your lungs, you never panicked, you kept on thinking and planning how to make it to the surface. You did so many things right. As a community, we are blessed for having someone like you to learn from and to dive with. Although I don't do deep dark holes, I would be honored to dive with you on a reef any time. Thanks so much for sharing this experience with us. I have learned a lot from this thread and from you.

Eh, we're selfish. . . . we want to dive with you, and party, again . . . and again . .

I have gone through the thread and located all the links posted and thought it might be of value to put them all in one post or as a sticky for people to locate them easily
