How is the wreck diving around there? What's the water clarity/depth? I was thinking on going up there for a dive with my LDS wondering if it's a worth while 3 hour drive....

Beir. I'm diving next week off of O.C.,and in past dives in the area I've seen viz from 10 to 100 feet. It's best to be prepared for viz like you find at Millbrook quarry. That way if it turns out better it will be a nice surprise.

3 hour drive? I have a question for all of you that dive out of DE then.. Why? Aren't conditions and wrecks better out of VB? Add another hour or two and you can have ridiculously good diving in NC...why do you guys drive up to that mudhole anyway? To get **** off the China Wreck? LOL

That's easy, A better group of divers that are not put off by a little bad viz.

A better group of divers? Ok, I'll play along. What do you mean by better?

Didn't mean to get something started here....I was just curious how it was up there. I would love to dive in N.C. as well.

that would be divers without the elusion of elitism that some of the trainning agencys teach these days. I happen to respect and trust alot of the divers that dive this ,how did you say it,"mud hole".

Didn't mean to offend the DE crowd, but I just couldn't see the logic in driving just as far to experience worse conditions. It's like driving 3 hours to Mt. Storm vs. 3 hours to Rawlings...why? Rawlings beats it hands down in all categories. I was curious if I was missing something up there, but after reading this post I doubt I would enjoy myself up there at all. Tell you what, you keep DE and I'll keep NC...that's fair! :)

novadiver:
sounds fair to me. may you never have to bang the hull 4 times.dive safe

Likewise..

I am actually planning on getting NITROX training out at Millbrook, which will be my first time there. I got my OW & AOW in Hawaii, and have caught the diving bug since. How is the visibility at Millbrook this time of year? Also, what kind of depths are the wrecks at in Delaware?
