But that suit is going to let you dive a lot more and in comfort...
And you will be surprised at how quickly you get things back under control...
Tip:
Don't use the drysuit for BC.... just add enough air to relieve a painful squeeze. I like to have what I call the 20' squeeze... that is I get as much air out of the suit as I can at 20' and maintain that level of squeeze the rest of the dive. On the way back up I might even keep a 40' squeeze if I am light.
This way I don't have to manage a bubble in the suit. I use my BC (wing) for a BCD to compensate for the weight of the gas in the tanks, adding as I go down to compensate for depth and letting out to compensate for gas used as I travel and dumping approaching stops on the way up to maintain neutrality. I leave the dump on my suit full open at all times and let any gas that wants out to come out.
Shane and I can maintain very slow ascents this way.
(I know this might run contrary to what you were taught in you drysuit class but ... well.... just give it a try.)
