Wonderful poems, Eric. My own paltry efforts...

Sea Bottle

Sway in the wind
You are all around me like snowflakes and I sign your name in the stars
Sigh your name in the dark
Pour my heart and this ache and that longing into a bottle and toss it into the sea.
I will wait all night on the sand for you.
Will you uncork this bottle pour its contents into God's dreaming mind
and send back a message of that Great Love?
I shall wait -- years, if I must -- for the glitter of your returning message, borne upon
the tides, until it comes to rest at my bare feet,
and with my heart exploding in diamondshower birdsong tears,
clutch your message to my breast and become a seadrop of joy.

If I Were The Ocean ... Dang! Eric, that is absolutely wonderful , and the Adventurer! it speaks straight to my soul ... my hopelessly romantic self applauds you : ) (David , make sure that he hears how much this thread has grown) Frank ... beautiful , and pretty profound as well ;D

This thread started almost two years ago. Looks like it's still goong strong. Very sweet Eric and Frank.

... What gems !

A poem I wrote that fell on deaf ears is now dedicated you ladies that deserve it so much more.

If I were the ocean…

I would watch you lay upon my beach

All my knowledge, to you I teach

I would splash your feet, as you walk my shore

Your visits to me, I would ask no more

I would tickle your skin, as you play in my waves

Able to touch you now, you make my days

While you photograph the soaring birds

The wind would carry my loving words

I would imagine you swimming out to me

Diving down to my reef to see

I would send the dolphins to laugh and play

They are my voice for what I have to say

You see my life, my grand domain

For you, I would hold off the wind and rain

For if I were the ocean, and you came to me

I would give it all, for with you… to be

Baitedstorm asked for another poem. So here it is, fresh from my thoughts about a girl that I once loved, lost, found, and can no longer have.

Lost Love

As I sit here and gaze over the ocean so vast
A whisper on the breeze, brings forth the past

My memories of her seem so removed and distant
In a dream she appears, the emotion is eminent

I can see her now; her beauty profound
Just the way I remembered, our lust did abound

I would cross this sea, it’s waves and it’s storms
To have one last chance at love once scorned

In my dreams I have missed her, I now see
Life has gone on, there is no chance for me

I sit here and gaze over the ocean, dreaming it’s her I see
Pretending she's on the other side, doing the same for me
