decoplanner (at least historically) has had the best interface, that's really what you are paying for. v-planner's is pretty good and there are a few different output formats.

I use ratio deoc for most plans, once you know it, its cheap - $0 in fact :) I only use v-planner when I am changing something drastic, or I want to "test" some assumptions.
 
There is a Lecture on Ratio Deco tonight on the UTD website, from 6:30 - 9:30 PST. Highly recommend it and worth the tuition for the course.

Here is an older monograph on Ratio Deco which gives a good overview on how to manually apply the algorithm. . .

When my old laptop died last year I thought I was going to have to buy V-Planner again but no !!!!! Got a new security key ?? sent to my registered Email address. Made me happy.

Main reason I got an ipod touch was to run ideco. Funny, buying a $200 device just to run a free app. Incredibly convenient though.
