After my certification dive i experienced some symptoms of decompression illness but i'm not sure if these symptms were normal after the first dive. 1.) my buddy and i were extremely tired

2.)my buddy and i experienced slight pain in lower back/side while breathing in (might have been from carrying around all that stuff on our backs?)

3.) I had some pain in my shoulder for 2 days

is this decompression illness? or just new diver syndrome:)

Dear SCUBEdoo:

Not DCS

No doubt you have experienced some problems associated with a new physical activity. The dives you would perform during certification would hardly be expected to result in decompression sickness.

The fatigue experienced is also a common feeling following diving.
