I was told Luxfer was bought out by someone else and also not to get Catalina. What's a good brand of tank, DIN Aluminum 40cuft, to buy? Does anyone have any preference?

Thanks,

Riley

Riley, Luxfer has not been bought out, and they recently bought out Hy-Mark. Luxfer and Hy-mark are the preferred deco cylinder because of their weight distribution characteristics (they balance well). Nothing wrong with Catalina, but they aren't as easy to balance.

I believe it was Worthington that bought out Hy-Mark, not Luxfer.

Vance is correct. Worthington bought Hy-Mark:

Worthington Industries: Worthington Industries to Acquire Hy-Mark Cylinders

Riley, as was said Luxfer and Hy-Mark have been the preferred deco cylinders because of their balancing characteristics. Catalina makes fine cylinders but IIRC are a bit butt heavy so they do not float as level as one would want when slung. I believe it is more noticeable with 80s than 40s.

I can't feel the difference between my Catalina 40's and my buddies Luxfer 40. The 80's are noticeable tho.
