Dead Sacuba Diver Washes Ashore In Pacifica

PACIFICA (AP) ― The San Mateo County coroner's office has identified the body of a diver found in the waters off of Pacifica State Beach Monday morning as 54-year-old Mark Haley of Pacifica.

Members of the North County Fire Authority and Coastside Fire Protection District were dispatched to the area at about 11:40 a.m. for a water rescue off Linda Mar Beach, Pacifica police said.

Reports indicated that Haley, who had been wearing a wetsuit and diving equipment, was found motionless in the water near the rocky shoreline.
Paramedics determined Haley was deceased and contacted police.

There was no evidence of foul play and the investigation is ongoing, police said.

The coroner's office is expected to conduct an examination today to determine the cause of death.

An unoccupied vehicle was found nearby in the general parking area, but it has not been determined if it belonged to Haley.
