There is zero benefit to Nitrox from the aspect of N2 loading when using Nitrox to extend bottom time. It is no different than diving air (21% O2) to air limits - the higher % of O2 simply gives you extended NDL's

That's the reason why I chose to dive 36 on both dives instead of using 32 on the first dive. To allow me to have extended NDLs, which equates to having a longer dive with the rest of the group. Sure, my group may not spend the same time at depth with me but I generally stay longer at a deeper depth to hunt.

That may be true for ops who require the entire group to surface together, and for those using Nitrox to extend NDL limits - but generally having a mixed boat does not affect other divers.

I've only used Aldora for all my Cozumel diving trips and in this case, we were grouped to do a more advanced dive and our DM wanted to have everyone on the same gas profile but for some reason this diver was completely against diving Nitrox. We never really asked him what his reservation was so we just left it between the DM and the diver.

Curious, have you ever been bent? Have you actually done the research and heard Dr.s opinions and advice on the matter? DCS is not a "pre-existing" condition and there is no evidence that having one hit means you are more susceptible to a subsequent hit, especially 5 years down the road.

Yes, I have been dove Cozumel 14+ times since 1990. I know the reefs and dive protocol there pretty well. I understand that DCS is NOT a pre-existing condition, but HAVING ANOTHER CONDITION (PFO) that makes you more susceptible IS, which was my point that he is putting others and himself at further risk without taking action. That is why I suggested he either address the issue, or hire his own boat/DM or quit altogether.

A quick visit to the PADI medical waiver form should clearly demonstrate that no professional organization should be taking this man diving. The fact that apparently you would take him says ALOT about your dive operation and one that I would 100% avoid.

The PADI medical questionnaire is irrelevant. It's a tool to decide when to refer folk to a diving doc. OP consulted with 3 diving docs and is cleared for diving - with limitations, as per the first post. Even if you fill that form with yesses, rocking up with a doctor's note means you're good to go.

At the end of the day, it is up to the shop to make a decision as to who gets on the boat. If it were my shop, he'd be denied.
