Will fine lite scratches affect the performance of the housing and thus pictures? I made the mistake of trying to wipe the inside and outside of the housings objective lens and now I have some very lite scratches/swirls on what looks like the purple coating. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Lite marks shouldn't affect the image too much. Try taking some pictures on land while varying the angle that a light source is hitting the lens. This will let you know if they will be a bother.
You can also contact our service dept. to see about sending the housing in to have the port glass changed out.
