Looks like everybody has got a happy ending huh.:) i guess time is just a number.Just go with the feeling.:)

Congratulations! Your heart will tell you the right thing to do...but if your mind keeps fighting it....listen. Its important to listen now then later...however that is easier said then done! :)

It is rare but it has happened to me twice. Both are and were loving relationships. Time IS just a number. Enjoy your life. That's the key. Live, love and be happy.

My only insight on this is to say you know the time.

cobaltbabe - true... it is a ring and paper, but it gives us something tangible to look at on our hands and the paper helps with legality when we're old and decrepit ;)

My first almost marriage was after 4 years of dating, a year of engagement. She bailed three days before the wedding, with gifts already arriving. That hurt.
Second try, dated for about a year, married, she bailed after four years.
Third time's the charm, right? Married five months after meeting and long-distance dating, our 22nd anniversary is this month, and we're still like a couple of teenagers that "gross out" our kids with our obvious affection.

True enough. And yes it is nice to have so you can say to the world, look I am taken, but if your heart is with that other person it should matter what the outside world thinks. In the eyes of the government after 6 months you are a couple, at least in Canada. And by the way CBulla, I am not a spring chicken either, 39 in a few days!!!!

<grin> spring chicken  havent heard that phrase in a while. Closing in 39 doesnt make you over the hill either. In experience with my friends (whose age ranges from low 20's to over 70) people generally dont start really living life until they are in their very late 20's up to about mid 40's for the late starters. It takes time to build experiences, knowlege, and define sense of self. :D

1st time - date about a year - lasted 14 years.... 2 kids
2nd time - dated 3+ years lasted 4 years.... no kids

3rd... perhaps later

I think a couple should date forever before they marry. Seriously, it is a decision that is so tied to the two people involved that I don't think a "correct" answer is possible.

I have seen people who dated for weeks create years of successful marriage and couples who dated for years who barely survived a few weeks of marriage.

Mind you, I speak as a lifelong bachelor (who wouldn't mind ending that status if the right dive buddy comes along)..

As for spring chicken cobaltbabe, you're really only old when regrets replace your dreams!

You know me well enough by now to know that I am only 18 in my heart. I have lots of dreams, now lets hope this body can keep up with them. :)

How i wish i was the one but it's actually my friends whom i introduce a few weeks ago. They just told me they were getting married so i was quite shell shocked for a while but i'm really happy for them.:) Has been a long time but i still remember the feeling of total abandonment and just falling in love.Sweet.:)
