I was just looking at a website owned by an operator on Roatan which stated that they had problems in the past with getting their money from DAN and that they would not accept DAN as a primary payment option for use of their recompression chambers on the islands, that the patient would have to come up with cash and then file a claim to DAN on their own. This notification was dated in 2006. I was wondering if DAN has worked out this and other problems they have had and could one expect that the operators on Roatan and other locations such as Cozumel, the Keys, etc. would accept the DAN card as proof of insurance and payment:dork2:.

That squabble has long since been worked out.

On Roatan many of the dive ops suggest you pay a couple dollar a day "chamber fee" which will cover your chamber expenses 100% should you need it on the island. There are a couple chambers on Roatan. Not sure about the chamber fee at FIBR, but last year I paid $2 per day at ILR and was told that if I needed any medical care - such as for an ear problem, etc that would be covered all except for any needed medication.
If you don't need the services, the chamber fees help to make the chamber available for the local lobster fishermen..

As for the DAN dispute, I think that is resolved - but I didnt think that involved chambers on Roatan. You may want to contact that particular chamber op and/or speak to DAN to be sure.
