Yeah, I know this has been hashed out a few times, but any info is good info. I currently have a Dacor Rig 2 (POS), and just ordered an OMS stainless BP, 45 lb bungee wings, and comfort harness. What are some of the differences I can expect with this setup? After hearing so many good remarks on BP/W, I have to try it. My Dacor always dropped me onto my right side, regardless of whether I had my pony on that side or not, lost weight pouches, etc. My LDS actually beat LP by a few bucks, so that helped a lot. Being good friends with some of them helped of course! I dive mainly NJ wrecks, drysuit, singles, etc.

With all of the information available here, you bought OMS bungie wings anyway...

I'm sorry. I can't help you. I wish I could.

Sarcasm is so much better than an answer, thank you!

Believe me, there was ABSOLUTELY no sarcasm in my comment. I was being perfectly honest.

Don't worry, you won't have any problems with the wing... just follow the instructions on attaching the bungies and you'll love them. I dove the IQ pack for 5 years. My only complaint was I had too big of a wing and I tried to use it for both doubles and singles.

Far too many people have drank the DIR Koolaid and refuse to drink anything else. I'm still waiting on seeing anything where a bungied wing caused an incident.

I don't really care for the OMS bungees either but I really don't get the DIR fascination with them. They seem to be quite popular with NE Wreck Divers, must be a reason for that.

In DIR's defense, it was a philosophy born in FL's caves and perhaps they don't know everything there is to know about NE wreck diving, they just have a problem admitting it. It's really more of an ideology anyway practiced mainly by internet divers, I wouldn't bother listening to them.

Anyway, it should be quite an improvement over "The Rig".

So it seems to me that some divers are like militant muslims, and believe that their way is the only way and everyone else is wrong. Others try different things and open their eyes. Hmmmm........

?

Not sure where that came from or why you happen to think that, but that's another story...

As for your rig, like others have said, I don't quite see the purpose of the bungeed wings. It seems to add a potential entanglement hazard while solving I'm not quite what sure problem. But that, after all, is just a personal observation and I could be wrong.

In either event, enjoy your new purchase. Sounds like you made a choice that was right for you and that is all that is important. Have fun with it.

You know, I was on your side until you made this rather odd statement. Do us all a favor and leave your political views off of a diving board.

Look,

Call it what you want. But *to me* the idea of a BP/W is to simplify gear, streamline, and get away from the restrictions of a more commonly seen unit.

I've seen what bungieed wings look like in the water. Did a rebreather class with a UK diver who wore his OMS bungie wings and he got to see what they did to him as well, and he wasn't pleased. The rigging of the "deluxe harness" necessitates the chest strap which is usually a primary reason of getting away from the jacket/vest style BC in the first place. I prefer not to have anything clipped across my chest.

This is not "kool aid". These are my personal observations from my own diving, and observing those who I am in the water with. Yes, I know that bungied wings are not DIR, but beyond that, they just don't seem like a great idea to me DIR or not.
