Hi,

Has anyone used this one of these units? I really like what I have read about it but it is not listed on www.divedacor.com. What is up with that? I need a comp that will do deep deco stops and use the RGBM but there are very few out there. All advice is welcomed.

Thanks,

Toe

I've done a quick dive or two with it... just checking it out. The flashing leds do grab your attention - it's pretty straight forward to use... the hose is more of a slow disconnect instead of a quick... you unscrew it. I know it's a RGBM algo, but don't know about the deep stop set up... never pushed it into deco - but if you want to give me a shout later today, I can pull the manual out of one and let you know.

Hi,

How are the sales on this item? Also, can you download the dive information to a computer? What type of interface does it require and is that included?

Thanks.

It uses the IRIS Downloader - that's the dacor/mares infrared thingy...

And as far as sales... It's really only folks that want the RGBM algo that seem to want them. For the average diver walking in the store - they seem to prefer the aeris as it is more compact - the Darwin is a bit big....

But for a $500 computer - it does have a lot of features...

It's died on him twice and it took for ever to get it replaced both times. I haven't used one myself. I kinda avoid Dacor products.
Customer service lacks somewhat.
Just my opinion.

I have a DACOR Darwin AI and so far its a great computer. Despite the fact that you have to replace batteries every 50 dives or so its very easy to use.

The Mares RGBM was a decision factor to buy this computer. In fact after reading some articles about the RGBM I have realized that doing deep stops makes total sense.

But the led lights are somewhat useless unless you are diving at night. And I find the alarm also a bit low could be lowder underwater.

Very easy to read, only two buttons, quick setup and operation.

Hi,

Are you using the computer interface for this unit? Can you tell if you have any negative reactions to anything about it? Thanks for the information.

The computer IRIS interface for Mares computers sucks GIANT DONKEY BALLS!

Do a search on Iris or Mares interface... IF you can get it to work sporadically, you've done better than most who have gone before you. That's a big IF, too, by the way.

I hate it with the white hot hatred of a thousand suns. If the Mares interface were a beautiful woman and was the last one on earth, I would still push her over the edge of a volcano into the molten lava below.

But hey, that's just me.

Whatever you do, DON'T ask Boogie about the buttons!
