It looks like I'm about to become the proud owner of a lot of D series poppets, far more than I'll ever use. I'm thinking of putting together some rebuild kits that would include the NOS poppet assembly and all o-rings for the Air1/D300/350/400. The only thing missing would be the lever adjustment screw; but that's easily re-usable with a bit of nail polish or something similar. Price would be very reasonable and dependent on my cost for the various components. Is there any interest in this sort of thing?

Well, I'm overwhelmed by the response..:D

I have the poppets, they look great, I'm ordering o-rings tomorrow or the next day. I'll have about 15 kits to sell for $5 each plus postage. They'll include the poppet w/seat, and o-rings for the balance chamber spool, top cap, switch, inlet and side cap, and poppet carrier. The balance spool o-ring is 70 duro nitrile, all others are 70 duro EPDM. I'll try to post a photo of one when I get the stuff together.

Hello Matt,

If you'll be ordering the 2.2mm x 1mm o-ring, I'd be interested if you could get a few more for my 156/G250's, say 20 - 50.

Cheers
Zung

50!!!! Are you planning on leaving them in your will? I'd figure one per 3 years for each 2nd stage that uses them and that is conservative. However, unless I actually have a balance chamber that is leaking, I only change the inner of a pair if they are used in pairs. If it is not leaking or ugly, the old inner moves to the outer (scraper) position where it can expect to enjoy another 3 to 5 years of diving before what is still probably early retirement. Sounds like another case of age discrimination to me.

Zung, I won't ordering that size. The balance spool is much larger on the D series than the balance chamber on the G250. I probably have 10 or so of those G250 balance chamber o-rings I could spare. I'm diving almost exclusively with D series regs (including my air1 and converted pilot).

Yes, I value long term business that crosses the boundary of death. :D

If I may question the wisdom of The Master Himself, wouldn't it be more effective to leave the outer one (scraper) alone and replace only the inner one? The reasonning is: the inner one is tighter and does all the work, so it must have more wear?

Thanks for the offer, but please don't worry about it. I was asking just because I saw it in the schematic I posted here, item #35 in the poppet assembly. I understand there must be quite a few variations around this model.

Yes, that o-ring is used in the D-series poppet to seal the seat to the poppet shaft. It comes as part of the poppet assembly. Interestingly these orange poppets are a bit different than other models produced by Scubapro. They are not rebuildable. That is, you can't disassemble the assembly and replace just the seat (and that little o-ring). This is not necessarily a bad thing. I recall a post by DA Aquamaster where I recall he indicated he preferred that poppet over other models. Plus, except for some NOS offerings that pop up occasionally, I'm not sure Scubapro even offers the D-series seat separately any more.

Scubapro does not sell the seat separately any more, and I don't think they sell the poppet assembly separate either. Just the kits and whatever stock of parts they have left. IOW, if you own a D series reg or two, it would not be a bad idea to stock up on poppets. In fact, I'm sleeping a little easier knowing I have a lifetime supply to keep all my coaxial valve regs working....well maybe I could use a few more pilot/air 1 diaphragms.

Halo,

Since I have been out of the country for the past few weeks (working, not diving - unless you could consider going into uranium mines as diving). However, I have a few D series regs and I would love to take you up on your offer of the poppet packs (more alliterative than kits :D ). Essentially, I'm in for at least 5.
